Technical Consultant

Location: Leeds (3 days office based, 2 days homeworking)
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Mon – Fri, 37.5 hours per week

Role Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the development, support, and implementation teams. There will be an expectation to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously as well as carrying out small development projects.

Responsibilities

 

  • Consulting on our Magma software installation and updates
  • Creating new Magma “RunSets” which cover the following:
    • Development work using XLST
    • External data connectors such as web services, FTP, EDI networks, etc.
    • Data transformation (for example, XML to CSV as required by the ERP system interface). This will require the creation of XSLT maps or, more likely, the extension of existing ones from our repository.
    • Internal ERP connectors such as SAP Business One, Sage, etc.
  • Assisting the Sales team on quotes for new opportunities, project changes, and changes to existing solutions
  • Creation of project documentation
  • Time management of projects, tracking billable work, and working with the customer to manage any changes or out-of-scope work
  • Attending regular meetings with customers, including kick-off and scoping sessions
  • Reporting issues or bugs within the Magma software to development
  • Working with internal and external project managers
  • Training end users when a project is delivered
  • Development – working on small development projects alongside the existing development team
  • Support – picking up escalated tickets from the support team as required
Skills/Attributes

Mandatory

  • Client facing work with ERP systems either as a consultant or as part of a technical support team
  • Development or programming skills using XLST
  • Some exposure to technical scripting or programming language (.NET / Java / PHP etc). The language itself is unimportant, but the technical skills gained are critical.
  • Understanding of document formats such as CSV and XML
  • Experience dealing with SQL Server queries.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong customer facing capabilities.
  • A strong understanding of typical business management processes, including order management, stock control and invoicing.
  • Keep yourself updated on the newest trends, features and advancements in AI, Copilot, and M365, Share your experience and perspectives with both the team and wider organization.

Desirable

  • Exposure to SAP Business One or Sage ERP systems
  • Experience of EDI standards and systems
  • Basic understanding of SOAP and REST web services
  • A strong understanding of AI and Microsoft Copilot tools and concepts
